Lipstick Appreciation Post

Rummaging through my lipstick collection today I mentally picked out my favourite winter lipsticks (I miss winter obviously) and so I thought I'd share some of my favourite summer and winter lipsticks.

Winter

There are hundreds of amazing winter shades but from what I own, these are definately some of my favourites! The names of each lip product are listed below according to their numbered labels:
  1. YSL Golden Gloss 6
  2. Guerlain KissKiss Gloss 809
  3. NYX Macaron Lippie Chambord
  4. Lacura Beauty Shade 70
  5. Mac Heroine
  6. Calvin Klein Creme Lipstick 136
My FAVOURITE would be #4. Super wearable and pigmented (and affordable). A perfect deep berry colour!

Summer

Of course any lip colour can be worn at any time of the year, but here are 6 of my favourite colours to wear in Summer that perfectly compliment the warm weather and your summer glow. Again the name and brand of each pictured lip product is written below:
  1. Gerard Cosmetics Colour Your Smile "Coral Craze"
  2. Australis Velour Lips Pa-ree
  3. Loréal Caresse 200 Princess
  4. MAC Lady Gaga A03
  5. Barry M Lip Paint in Lavender
Again, if i had to choose a favourite, I would probably choose the Australis Velour Lips  #2 as it's the perfect Nude shade and its totally matte.

Face Charts

I thought I would share a few of my favourite face charts that I have completed. I downloaded this template online

I do like this template as it is quite simple, and it allows you to list the products you used on the left hand side.

This was my first ever face chart. I wanted to create a bold and elegant look. To achieve this I uses a gold cream eyeshadow, created a long defined wing and chose a bold berry lip stain. Also, I showcased fairly heavy contouring to support the "bold" look I was aiming to achieve.

Lastly, this look was heavily inspired my Lorde (see pic above). Very simple and light contouring and a light shadoe on the lids for a bit of depth, with her token black lips and a fierce cat eye wing. The focus of this look is simply BLACK.
I love this look. This makeup look is inspired by middle eastern makeup looks. The Khol eyeliner surrounding the inner waterlines of the eye and the smoky earthy colours on the lid remind me of Sarah Jessica Parker's makeup as Carrie in "Sex and the City 2". The nude lip helps to focus the attention on the smoky eyes.

The Magic of Coconut Oil

There are sooo many different health and beauty uses for Coconut Oil.
I've listed some of my favourite uses below:
  • Eye Makeup Remover
  • Lip Balm
  • Massage Oil
  • Cuticle Oil
  • Bath Oil
  • Shaving Cream
  • Moisturiser
  • Shoe Polish
  • Smooth Cracked Heels
  • Soothes Burns
  • Bug Bite Relief
  • After Wax care (use after waxing to soothe skin and remove any wax residue)
Besides these beneficial uses, coconut oil is obviously great for cooking! Coconut oil is said to boost metabolism and even helps to absorb minerals through digestion.

I use Organic Virgin Coconut Oil

PRODUCT REVIEW

Benefit - High Beam

Benefit High Beam Highligter
Benefit's High Beam highlighter is the first liquid highlighter I've tried, and will maybe be the last. Firstly I will say that High Beam is pigmented, and I love the pearlescent shimmer it leaves.

Benefit High Beam Application System

I also like the application system which is similar to a nail polish application brush as you can see is the pic to the right >

Although the product works great as a highlighter I personally have an issue with blending it out to create a natural sheen across the cheek bone rather than a shiny patch over my set foundation, which is easily achieved using powder highlighter. However this issue may not occur if you leave you setting powder application till after using the high beam, so the liquid can blend easily straight into the consistency of your foundation.

How High Beam applies to skin
High beam - blended into the skin

As you can see in the above pictures, the product leaves a pearly sheen on the skin. I suggest that this product is NOT used to highlight the nose chin or forehead. Just from my own experience, I noticed that it really made my nose and T-zone area look extremely oily (not dewy, OILY) and too shiny.

Overall I much prefer to use a powder highlighter, but judging the product despite of this, I would rate it an 7/10 considering its pigmentation and colour.

Special Occasion Palette (front view)

PRODUCT REVIEW

bhcosmetics 'Special Occasion' Palette

Special Occasion Palette (layout)

This palette features 30 awesome eyeshadows, some matte and some shimmery. These eyeshadows have great pigmentation, and I love how with this one palette you can create almost any look as it includes earthy tones, and electric blue, green and purple colours.

Special Occasion Palette Eyeshadow Selection

Here I've swatched 4 of the colours just to show the colour selection, and high quality of these eyeshadows a little better :)

This palette also features 9 blushes; 2 browns that can be used for bronzing (not contouring because they are shimmery), and one pale pink/white which is perfect for highlighting. These blushes are of great quality like the eyeshadows and have the perfect pigmentation for a blush. And of course, these 'blushes' double as eyeshadows) WOHOO

Special Occasion Palette Blush Selection

I've swatched a few of the pink blushes on my hand as you can see below (I had to build up the product so that it would show up on camera so these swatches are about 2 layers thick)

Overall I would rate this palette a 9/10! If only shipping to Australia was cheaper :(
